We are currently fundraising for our Eco Roof Project.  Our latest quinquennial inspection prioritised a complete overhaul of the roof.  At the same time, our work on Eco Church enabled us to visualise opportunities to move further towards “net zero” with proper roof insulation added together with solar panel electical generation.

Our architect has designed a scheme that enables the insulation to sit on the rafters with the roof slates above.  The south facing roof (the largest area in the above photo) will enable 20 solar panels to be embedded within the roof.  Significant battery storage will also be added as part of the sustainability.

The outcome will result in panels appearing in a similar manned to the installation on the affordable housing (from the Vision 21 project) as seen in the photo below.

The overall cost is estimated to be between £200000 and £230000 and our own fundraising has made an excellent start.  Work is expected to start this summer and our final push for raising these funds is continuing.
